Yorba Linda  Dog Trainer

Dog Training in Yorba Linda

Since 2000, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy has been actively serving the dogs and people in our Yorba Linda  community. Our President and Training Director, Karen Wildaman, discovered her passion for dog training at the young age of 8. Equipped with years of professional practice and accreditations from respected organizations like the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she is now a respected dog trainer with a deep understanding of canine psychology and behavior. Through her compassionate and impactful methods, Karen has guided countless dogs and their loving humans in establishing solid relationships and achieving obedience and balance.

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, we hold the belief that educating your dog is paramount for their health, happiness, and ability to thrive in a world filled with humans. Our objective is to strengthen the connection between you and your beloved dog by utilizing positive reinforcement methods that are tailored to your particular lifestyle and needs. Our main concern is your dog’s well-being and success, so we never employ abusive techniques or harsh force. With more than twenty years of experience and a proven history of success, our training programs cover a broad spectrum, from foundational obedience to complex behavior management. We are committed to building strong and loving relationships between pets and their adoring owners through the expertise of our skilled trainers.

The Importance of Dog Training

Dogs attending It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy receive individualized training crafted for their unique needs, instruction from seasoned, certified trainers, and reinforcement strategies built on positivity and cooperation. With these resources, both pets and owners gain the skills to communicate effectively, strengthening trust and creating a balanced relationship that brings greater happiness, improved health, and a more fulfilling life together rooted in respect and companionship.

For dogs of any age, dog training plays a vital role in encouraging appropriate behavior, strengthening family communication, and fostering deeper bonds between people and pets. The belief that older dogs cannot learn effectively is inaccurate, because they remain just as capable of adapting and developing new skills at all ages. A professional dog training service adds value by delivering structured learning, specialized expertise, and gentle, yet effective methods. With this guidance, dogs receive the assistance and training they truly deserve and need for lifelong success.

AKC® Urban CGC

Our AKC® CGC dog training services provide a hands-on way to strengthen how your dog behaves in different public settings. The program is tailored to prepare dogs for experiences such as dealing with crowds, walking near traffic, visiting stores, and beyond. Sessions take place weekly on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and end with a test. Dogs must already possess an AKC® registration number and the Canine Good Citizen title before participating. Aggression is not permitted, but adopted pets and service animals qualify for a $10 discount. If your dog needs additional training support, we can set you up with a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer.

Service Dog Training

Our Yorba Linda  service dog training is a full-spectrum program led by a certified service dog trainer, designed to meet the unique needs of service dogs and their handlers. Each K-9 trainer begins by conducting a free consultation and assessment to determine the dog’s suitability for assistance work and understand your specific needs. Your service dog trainer in Yorba Linda  will design a personalized K-9 training plan that spans three stages, featuring group classes such as Basic, Urban Canine, and CGC Level I & II, along with private field lessons, in-home or off-site private sessions, and board and train options with a local K-9 trainer. Certification testing covers AKC Canine Good Citizen®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, and a Public Access Test to prove proficiency and public readiness.

The training is rigorous, not every dog will achieve success, and a number may prove unfit for the program, but dogs who excel and reach completion will receive a Certification ID card as recognition. Your presence and consistent participation during instruction and lessons are integral to your dog’s development, so your K-9 trainer in Yorba Linda  will request your involvement if you’re physically able to take part. AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Join the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and enjoy an engaging six-week adventure with your canine partner! This engaging course allows dogs to try entertaining tricks, including playing dead, barking on cue, shaking paws, high-fiving, crawling, spinning in circles, jumping through a hoop, and more. By performing the designated number of tricks, your pet will qualify for the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title and gain well-earned recognition.

For the Novice level, your dog will need to show 10 tricks (or 5 if already holding a CGC title), and the Intermediate test requires an additional 10 new tricks. The class is led by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators and is open to dogs who are at least 6 months old and have completed Basic Obedience or equivalent training. It’s a rewarding opportunity to build lasting memories, develop stronger skills, and reinforce the connection you share with your pet!

Obedience Training

Group Obedience classes at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy combine structure, community, and the expertise of a dedicated local dog trainer. Groups are limited to 12 participants, which provides plenty of personal attention during the seven-week program. Each one-hour class is reinforced with daily 45-minute practice to ensure your dog masters vital skills. Dogs learn key commands like recall, heel, sit, loose leash walking, and down stays, while also addressing everyday problem behaviors. Training includes crucial life lessons such as greetings, distraction practice up to 30 feet, exercise, and nutrition. After mastering the basics, dogs can continue with two Intermediate Obedience levels. These courses prepare them for AKC® Community Canine and Canine Good Citizen certifications, which are widely respected achievements that may provide legal advantages and confirm your pet’s manners. Give your dog every opportunity to succeed with training that develops obedience, builds confidence, and encourages positive social interactions!
