Dog Training in San Gabriel
It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy has been a beacon of service in the San Gabriel community for over 20 years, catering to both dogs and their human counterparts. Karen Wildaman, who now serves as President and Training Director, began her journey in dog training back when she was just 8 years old. Armed with decades of professional experience and recognized certifications from prestigious institutions such as the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she has become an acclaimed dog trainer with an advanced understanding of canine psychology and behavior. Through her compassionate and successful approach, Karen has supported countless dogs and their companions in building strong bonds and achieving obedience and harmony.
At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, we firmly believe in the necessity of educating your dog because it greatly contributes to their overall happiness and adaptability in a human-centric society. We are committed to fostering a stronger connection between you and your loyal canine through the use of positive reinforcement techniques that are personalized to your specific needs. Our main concern is your dog’s success, so we never resort to abusive tactics or extreme force. Backed by two decades of expertise and a proven history of achievement, we provide an extensive array of training solutions covering everything from fundamental obedience to tackling complex behaviors. Dedicated to nurturing thriving and harmonious relationships between pets and their loving caregivers, our skilled trainers are here to support you.
The Importance of Dog Training
It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy provides many advantages, including the leadership of certified trainers with years of knowledge, reinforcement methods focused on positivity and trust, and personalized programs designed for your dog’s needs. These resources promote cooperation and understanding, allowing you and your pet to strengthen your bond while building a harmonious relationship that results in improved health, lasting happiness, and a fulfilling life together.
Dog training provides meaningful benefits for puppies, adult dogs, and seniors alike by shaping good habits, improving communication, and reinforcing the human-animal relationship. The common idea that training only works when dogs are young is untrue, because canines remain capable of learning at all points in life. Their intelligence and flexibility allow them to continue adapting. By working with a professional dog training service, pets gain access to consistent structure, expert leadership, and effective, compassionate techniques that supply them with the necessary training and proper support.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes
Enroll in the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and share a rewarding experience with your beloved dog! During the course, your dog will practice amusing tricks like crawling, spinning in circles, barking on cue, jumping through a hoop, high-fiving, shaking paws, playing dead, and more entertaining behaviors. Upon completing a certain set of tricks, your dog can officially earn recognition through the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title certification.
For the Novice level, your dog will need to show 10 tricks (or 5 if already holding a CGC title), and the Intermediate test requires an additional 10 new tricks. Conducted by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators, the program is open to dogs 6 months and older who have successfully completed Basic Obedience or comparable courses. This is a rewarding chance to strengthen your connection, refine abilities, and build unforgettable memories with your loyal canine pal!
Obedience Training
Our Group Obedience classes are a dynamic way to teach your dog essential manners while learning alongside other owners. Each class is limited to 12 participants and runs for seven weeks, blending weekly one-hour sessions with 45 minutes of practice each day. Skills we’ll teach include down stays, heel, sit, recall, and loose leash walking, plus strategies for tackling typical behavioral issues. Training also incorporates nutrition, greetings, regular exercise, and working with distractions as far as 30 feet away. Once your dog has completed the course, they can advance into two levels of Intermediate Obedience, which prepare them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations. Our mission is to strengthen your dog’s obedience while promoting positive social interactions. Discover how much your dog can achieve with expert training and encouragement!
AKC® Urban CGC
Take part in our AKC® CGC dog training services for a practical, straightforward path to improving canine manners in public environments. The course prepares dogs for real-life situations like moving safely through traffic, calmly facing crowds, handling stores, and other outdoor challenges. Sessions are scheduled every Saturday at 1:00 pm, and the program concludes with a test. Enrollment requires your dog to already have the Canine Good Citizen title and an AKC® registration number. Aggressive dogs cannot be admitted, but service animals and adopted pets benefit from a $10 discount. If your dog needs additional training support, we can set you up with a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer.
Service Dog Training
Our San Gabriel service dog training is a full-spectrum program led by a certified service dog trainer, designed to meet the unique needs of service dogs and their handlers. Each K-9 trainer begins the process with a complimentary consultation and assessment to determine the dog’s aptitude and the type of assistance they require. The service dog trainer in San Gabriel then develops a three-stage K-9 training protocol, which can include group classes such as CGC Level I & II, Urban Canine, and Basic, along with board and train programs, private field instruction, and in-home or off-site lessons with a local K-9 trainer. Testing for certifications like AKC Community Canine®, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, and a Public Access Test is included to confirm certification and public readiness.
The training is highly demanding, not all dogs will succeed, and some may prove to be unsuitable candidates, but those who do well and finish the program will be awarded a Certification ID card. Your K-9 trainer in San GabrielCITY will explain that your involvement and consistent attendance at instruction and lessons are fundamental to the process, provided that you are physically able to play that role. Contact us when you’re ready to learn more details and reserve a consultation appointment at a time that works for you.
