Dog Training in Perris
It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy has been committed to our Perris community since 2000, proudly catering to dogs and their human companions. Our President and Training Director, Karen Wildaman, discovered her passion for dog training at the young age of 8. Having honed her skills as a renowned dog trainer over decades and being certified by prestigious organizations like the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she is recognized as an expert in understanding canine behavior and psychology. Karen’s empathetic and impactful techniques have enabled numerous dogs and their owners to develop lasting bonds and attain obedience and equilibrium.
At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, we firmly believe in the necessity of educating your dog because it greatly contributes to their overall happiness and adaptability in a human-centric society. We strive to deepen the bond between you and your beloved dog by implementing tailored positive reinforcement approaches that are adapted to your distinct circumstances. We concentrate on helping your dog reach his or her full potential, steering clear of harmful methods or aggressive force. With a solid foundation of over twenty years of experience and a history of successful outcomes, our training offerings span from fundamental obedience to resolving complex behavior issues. With a commitment to nurturing happy and harmonious connections between pets and their devoted families, our skilled trainers bring expertise and passion to every session.
The Importance of Dog Training
Bringing your pet to It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy opens the door to positive reinforcement practices that encourage cooperation, individualized training programs tailored for specific needs, and knowledgeable guidance from certified professionals. With this balanced approach, you and your dog develop trust and harmony, forming a stronger bond that creates the foundation for a healthy, happy life that’s filled with mutual respect and companionship.
Dog training is valuable at every stage of a dog’s life because it promotes good manners, improving communication with families, and building strong, lasting bonds. The common belief that training only works in young dogs is incorrect – the fact is that dogs remain capable of learning at all points in life because their intelligence and flexibility allow them to continue adapting. Choosing a professional dog training service provides not only a reliable structure, but also access to humane, proven strategies and professional expertise that provides every dog with valuable support and training.
What Sets Us Apart
Led by Karen Wildaman, our team stresses the significance of trust and holistic practices. Tailoring our methods to suit each dog’s unique needs is central to our philosophy, whether that entails incorporating essential oils for relaxation and focus, providing personalized attention, or offering ongoing support. Our objective is to establish a peaceful and happy connection between you and your four-legged companion, founded on mutual understanding and respect. Fostering a positive learning environment for your dog plays a huge role in what we do. Our distinctive approach ensures ongoing prosperity and contentment for both you and your beloved companion.
Obedience Training
Our obedience training program offers Group Obedience courses led by an experienced local dog trainer who helps both owners and dogs achieve long-term success. Limited to 12 pairs, these sessions allow you to work directly with a skilled local dog trainer for seven weeks of structured learning. Weekly one-hour lessons are paired with 45 minutes of daily practice to help your dog learn commands like loose leash walking, sit, recall, down stays, and heel, and also work through behavior concerns. Lessons extend further to include greetings, exercise, nutrition, and obedience around distractions up to 30 feet. Once basics are mastered, your dog can advance through two levels of Intermediate Obedience to further prepare them for the AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations. Training ensures not only stronger obedience, but also a more confident, well-behaved companion. Join today to build a rewarding partnership with your dog!

In addition to obedience training, our AKC® Trick Dog Class, and service dog training, we also offer:

Need guidance on how to begin? Our seasoned team is ready to talk about the array of options available and collaborate with you to create a tailored training program for your dog. Whether you’re turning to a dog anxiety trainer who specializes in developing calm and confident, your pup requires tailored training sessions in your own environment, you’re interested in our K-9 training service offerings, or you’re starting with the basics, we’ll match you with a dog trainer in Perris who is skilled in helping you and your dog reach every goal you have in mind.
Service Dog Training
Our Perris service dog training is a full-spectrum program led by a certified service dog trainer, designed to meet the unique needs of service dogs and their handlers. A K-9 trainer starts with a free consultation and assessment to determine your dog’s aptitude for service work and evaluate the handler’s requirements. After this, your service dog trainer in Perris customizes a three-stage K-9 training plan, offering group classes like Urban Canine, CGC Level I & II, and Basic, plus private field lessons, in-home or off-site sessions, and board and train opportunities with a local K-9 trainer. Certification testing includes AKC Canine Good Citizen®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, and a Public Access Test to help your dog achieve recognized credentials for public access and service work.
The training is demanding, not all dogs will succeed, and some may fall short of being proper candidates, but those who rise to the challenge and complete the course will obtain a Certification ID card. Active participation in lessons and instruction is crucial for your dog’s growth, so your K-9 trainer in Perris highlights the importance of your involvement if you are physically capable. AKC® Trick Dog Classes
Take part in the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and enjoy a lighthearted six-week program with your four-legged companion! The training includes a range of fun skills, such as high-fiving, shaking paws, crawling, playing dead, spinning in circles, barking on cue, jumping through a hoop, and other fun activities. Upon demonstrating a required set of tricks, your dog has the opportunity to carry the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title with pride.
To pass the Novice test, your dog must complete 10 tricks (or just 5 if they already hold a CGC title), while the Intermediate level requires an additional 10 tricks. The class is carefully supervised by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators and welcomes dogs who are at least 6 months of age with prior Basic Obedience or similar training. This is an exciting way to bond, polish skills, and enjoy meaningful time with your dog!
AKC® Urban CGC
Our AKC® CGC dog training services provide a clear, effective approach designed to help your dog behave properly in public spaces. The course prepares dogs for real-life situations like moving safely through traffic, calmly facing crowds, handling stores, and other outdoor challenges. Sessions are scheduled every Saturday at 1:00 pm and end with a test. Before enrolling, your dog must already have an AKC® registration number and a Canine Good Citizen title. Aggressive dogs cannot participate, but service animals and adopted dogs may take advantage of a $10 discount. If your dog needs guidance for difficult behaviors that can’t be accepted into this course, we can connect you with a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer.
