Dog Training in Buena Park

Serving our Buena Park community for over 20 years, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy is dedicated to the well-being of dogs and the humans who love them. Karen Wildaman, now leading as President and Training Director, took the first steps toward a dog training career at the age of 8. With extensive professional experience and certifications from reputable institutions like the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she has become a skilled dog trainer with a profound understanding of canine psychology and behavior. With her compassionate and successful approach, Karen has empowered countless dogs and their caregivers to foster deep connections and attain obedience and serenity.

Our philosophy at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy revolves around the importance of giving your dog an education – not only for their welfare, but also for their seamless integration into our human environment. Obedience Training

Our professional dog obedience training service offers a fun and effective way to train your dog through Group Obedience courses. Our 7-week program allows you to share insights and experiences in a group of up to 12 owners and their dogs, under the guidance of a committed local dog trainer. Daily 45-minute practice sessions are paired with weekly hour-long sessions, diving deep into managing prevalent behavioral issues and mastering key commands like loose leash walking, recall, heel, and down and sit stays. Moreover, we emphasize the importance of nutrition and exercise, reinforcing obedience commands with distractions up to 30 feet away, and teaching appropriate greetings. Progress your dog’s abilities with our Intermediate Obedience Training classes, crafted to equip them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations, providing legal benefits and a well-mannered pet certification. Join us and witness the impressive progress of your dog in obedience and social skills!

Service Dog Training

Our Buena Park service dog training is a comprehensive program led by a certified service dog trainer. The process begins with our K-9 trainer offering a free consultation and assessment to ascertain your dog’s suitability and assistance needs. Upon completing the initial consultation, your service dog trainer in Buena Park will craft a K-9 training program tailored across three phases. These phases include group workshops such as Urban Canine, Basic, and CGC Level I & II, in addition to private field sessions, individual lessons held either at your home or in alternate locations with a local K-9 trainer, and board and train options. Testing for certifications like a Public Access Test, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, and AKC Community Canine® will also be part of the training.

Because of the challenging nature of the training, not every dog will succeed, and some may not meet the criteria, but those who excel receive a Certification ID card. Your participation and availability for instruction and lessons are crucial for your dog’s comprehensive training, as requested by your K-9 trainer in Buena Park – provided that you are physically capable of playing an active role. Feel free to contact us for additional information and to book your consultation.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Enroll in our AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and experience pure joy with your furry pal! Throughout a 6-week timeframe, your dog will pick up a multitude of entertaining tricks, including barking on cue, jumping through a hoop, high-fiving, crawling, playing dead, spinning in circles, shaking paws, and more. Your dog can earn an AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title by demonstrating a set number of tricks.

In the Novice evaluation, your dog will display 10 tricks (or 5 with a CGC title), and Intermediate requires mastering an additional 10 tricks. Supervised by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators, our program is suitable for dogs aged 6 months and up who have fulfilled the prerequisites of Basic Obedience or an equivalent course. Don’t miss this chance to strengthen your bond, improve abilities, and create lasting memories with your beloved pet!

AKC® Urban CGC

Participate now in our AKC® CGC dog training program to experience a dedicated and hands-on method for improving canine conduct in public settings. Equip your dog for outdoor experiences like crowds, traffic, and stores through this class. Sessions are held on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and include a test. Prerequisites consist of earning the Canine Good Citizen certification and possessing an AKC® registration ID number. It’s important to remember that aggressive behavior will not be tolerated, and adopted or service dogs are eligible for a $10 discount. If your dog has greater training needs and doesn’t qualify for this course, we can put you in touch with a dog reactivity trainer or dog aggression trainer.
