AKC® Urban CGC

Our AKC® CGC dog training services provide a clear, effective approach designed to help your dog behave properly in public spaces. The course prepares your dog to face challenges including exposure to traffic, interaction with crowds, visits to stores, and other common scenarios. Each session meets on Saturdays at 1:00 pm, with the course wrapping up in a testing evaluation. Before enrolling, your dog must already have an AKC® registration number and a Canine Good Citizen title. Aggressive behavior is not allowed, but service dogs and adopted dogs are offered a $10 discount. If your dog doesn’t qualify for this course because of challenging behavior, we can connect you to a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer for added support.

Service Dog Training

Our La Habra  service dog training program is a fully integrated curriculum overseen by a certified service dog trainer offering hands-on guidance and specialized instruction. The K-9 trainer first conducts a free consultation and assessment to determine the dog’s aptitude and evaluate specific service requirements. After this, your service dog trainer in La Habra  develops a tailored three-stage K-9 training plan that includes group classes such as CGC Level I & II, Basic, and Urban Canine, in addition to private field lessons, in-home or off-site private sessions, and board and train options with a local K-9 trainer. Testing for certifications such as AKC Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, and a Public Access Test is included for full credentialing.

The training is challenging, not every dog will qualify, and a few may not be appropriate candidates, but those who excel and finish the course will earn a Certification ID card. Your involvement and reliability in showing up for instruction and lessons are essential to the process, so your K-9 trainer in La Habra  will request your participation as long as you can physically participate. AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Enroll in the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and share six weeks of fun interaction with your loyal companion! Throughout the sessions, your pet will learn delightful tricks such as barking on cue, jumping through a hoop, crawling, playing dead, spinning in circles, high-fiving, shaking paws, and more creative skills. By showcasing a certain number of these tricks, your dog becomes eligible to earn the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title.

Dogs must perform 10 tricks for the Novice level (or 5 with a CGC title already achieved), while the Intermediate test requires another 10 new tricks. This program is supervised by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators, and it’s suitable for dogs at least 6 months old who have completed Basic Obedience or an equivalent course. Obedience Training

Our Group Obedience program introduces dogs and owners to practical training methods under the guidance of a knowledgeable local dog trainer. Limited to 12 pairs, these sessions allow you to work directly with a skilled local dog trainer for seven weeks of structured learning. Weekly one-hour lessons are paired with 45 minutes of daily practice to help your dog learn commands like loose leash walking, sit, recall, down stays, and heel, and also work through behavior concerns. Beyond commands, lessons highlight exercise, proper greetings, nutrition, and distraction training extending to 30 feet. After completing the course, two additional levels of Intermediate Obedience provide opportunities to advance skills. These programs help prepare your dog for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine certifications. These certifications highlight your dog’s skills, add legal benefits, and ensure well-mannered behavior.
