Since 2000, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy has been a trusted partner to both dogs and their human families in the Fullerton area. Since she was 8 years old, Karen Wildaman, our President and Training Director, has been passionate about training dogs. Equipped with years of professional expertise and recognized certifications from respected institutions like the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she is a well-regarded dog trainer with an advanced understanding of canine psychology and behavior. Karen’s caring and efficient techniques have supported numerous dogs and their companions in building strong bonds and achieving obedience and harmony.

The guiding principle at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy is the belief that educating your dog is crucial for their well-being and for their successful adaptation to our human-centric society. Our goal is to fortify the relationship between you and your furry friend by utilizing customized positive reinforcement strategies designed specifically for your needs. Our main concern is your dog’s success, so we never resort to abusive tactics or extreme force. With over two decades of experience and a track record of successful outcomes, our training services encompass a diverse range, including basic obedience and the management of challenging behaviors. Because we’re committed to building strong and loving connections between pets and their caring parents, our team of expert trainers is here to support you.

The Importance of Dog Training

Choosing It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy as your dog’s training destination comes with several advantages, including the expertise of certified trainers with extensive experience, a commitment to positive reinforcement methods that encourage obedience and trust, and tailored training programs designed to meet your dog’s specific needs. By practicing these techniques, you cultivate a harmonious and fulfilling bond with your furry friend and, therefore, a happier and healthier life together.

The necessity of dog training is evident in its role in fostering positive behavior, enhancing communication with families, and strengthening the bond between dogs and their owners. The concept that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is fundamentally flawed. Dogs can adapt and learn at any stage of life because of their extraordinary intelligence. Through structured learning, the use of humane, effective training methods, and expert guidance, professional dog training services play a critical role in ensuring that dogs receive well-deserved, much-needed support and training.

Service Dog Training

Participate in our Fullerton service dog training – a complete program managed by a certified service dog trainer. The journey starts with our K-9 trainer offering a no-cost consultation and assessment to gauge your dog’s appropriateness and assistance needs. Upon completing the initial consultation, your service dog trainer in Fullerton will tailor a K-9 training program covering three phases. These phases consist of group workshops such as Urban Canine, CGC Level I & II, and Basic, alongside train and board options, individual lessons held either at your residence or elsewhere with a local K-9 trainer, and private field sessions. Your dog’s training will culminate in tests for certifications like AKC Community Canine®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, a Public Access Test, and AKC Canine Good Citizen®.

Although the training is challenging, not all dogs will finish the course, and some may not be the right fit, those who successfully complete the program receive a Certification ID card. Your K-9 trainer in Fullerton will tell you that active parent participation and availability for instruction and lessons are key components of your dog’s comprehensive training, contingent upon your physical capabilities. Get in touch with us to learn more and to set up your consultation session.

AKC® Urban CGC

Enroll now in our AKC® CGC dog training program for an effective and structured method to improve canine conduct in public areas. Ready your dog for real-world obstacles like crowds, traffic, and shopping trips with this class. Sessions take place on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and end with a test. Necessary prerequisites consist of obtaining the Canine Good Citizen certification and an AKC® registration code. Take note that aggressive behavior is against the rules, and there is a $10 discount for service or adopted dogs.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Enroll in our AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy for an enjoyable adventure with your four-legged friend! Throughout a 6-week timeframe, your furry friend will master a multitude of fun tricks, like barking on command, jumping through a hoop, shaking paws, spinning in circles, high-fiving, playing dead, crawling, and more. Your canine friend can secure an AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title by showcasing a specified set of tricks.

For the Novice evaluation, your dog must demonstrate 10 tricks (or 5 with a CGC title), and Intermediate adds another set of 10 tricks. Directed by AKC®-accredited CGC Evaluators, our session is open to dogs aged 6 months and up who have met the requirements of Basic Obedience training or an equivalent program. Seize this chance to strengthen your bond, refine abilities, and enjoy quality time with your furry family member!

Obedience Training

Enjoy the benefits of our Group Obedience courses – a fun and impactful training option! You’ll participate in a close-knit group of no more than 12 owners and dogs, where you can benefit from the expertise of a local dog trainer over a span of 7 weeks. Each week, you’ll enjoy hour-long sessions alongside daily 45-minute practice sessions, focusing on handling common behavioral challenges and fundamental commands such as recall, down and sit stays, heel, and loose leash walking. Furthermore, we advocate for proper nutrition and exercise, reinforcing obedience commands even in the presence of distractions that are up to 30 feet away, and concentrate on teaching appropriate greetings. Advance your dog’s skills through our Intermediate Obedience Training classes, designed to get them ready for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine assessments, offering a well-mannered pet certification and legal benefits. Join us to see your dog thrive in obedience and social manners!
