Dog Training in Monrovia
Catering to Monrovia’s canine and human population since 2000, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy is a proud member of this one-of-a-kind community. Our President and Training Director, Karen Wildaman, discovered her love for training dogs at just 8 years old. With extensive professional experience and certifications from reputable institutions like the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she is now a revered dog trainer with deep insights into canine behavior and psychology. With her compassionate and efficient approach, Karen has guided countless dogs and their caregivers to establish strong relationships and attain obedience and balance.
At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, we stress the significance of providing your dog with an education that centers around their overall well-being and to their successful adaptation to our human world. We strive to enhance the bond between you and your furry family member by employing tailored positive reinforcement techniques. Our main concern is your dog’s well-being and success, so we never employ abusive techniques or harsh force. Armed with over two decades of experience and a proven record of success, our training programs cover a broad spectrum, addressing both fundamental obedience and complicated behavior issues. Dedicated to fostering thriving and harmonious relationships between pets and their loving caregivers, our skilled trainers are here to support you.
The Importance of Dog Training
Enrolling your dog at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy presents several advantages, including the expertise of certified trainers with extensive experience, personalized training plans that cater to your dog’s individual needs, and a focus on positive reinforcement methods that encourage trust and obedience. By practicing these techniques, you can form a harmonious and fulfilling alliance with your furry friend for a long, happy, and healthy life together.
Training dogs is essential for building a stronger bond between humans and their canine companions, enhancing communication with families, and instilling good behavior. We’ve all heard, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” but that phrase is entirely misleading. Dogs never lose their adaptability and intelligence, so they can adapt and learn at any life stage. Through structured learning, the use of humane, effective training methods, and expert guidance, professional dog training services play a critical role in ensuring that dogs get the support and training they need and deserve.
What Sets Us Apart
Emphasizing trust-building and holistic strategies, Karen Wildaman leads our team. At the heart of our approach is the belief in customizing our methods to fit the unique needs of each dog, whether that means using essential oils for relaxation and focus, offering personalized attention, or providing ongoing support. Our objective is to forge a harmonious rapport between you and your canine companion, characterized by mutual understanding and admiration. We strive to establish a supportive learning environment that benefits your dog. Through our innovative techniques, we guarantee continuous success and joy for both you and your cherished furry friend.

AKC® Urban CGC
Sign up today for our AKC® CGC dog training sessions for a structured and results-driven approach to shaping canine behavior in public spaces. Prepare your dog for outdoor encounters such as crowds, traffic, and shopping trips through this class. Sessions run on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and finish with a test. Prior qualifications consist of obtaining the Canine Good Citizen certification and possessing an AKC® registration ID. Kindly note that aggressive behavior is prohibited, and service or adopted dogs are eligible for a $10 discount. If your dog needs guidance for difficult behaviors that can’t be accepted into this course, we can connect you with a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer.
Service Dog Training
Discover our Monrovia service dog training – a detailed program guided by a certified service dog trainer. Our K-9 trainer kicks off the process with a complimentary consultation and assessment, evaluating your dog’s compatibility and support requirements. After the initial assessment, your service dog trainer in Monrovia will develop a specialized K-9 training protocol spanning three stages. These stages consist of group sessions like CGC Level I & II, Basic, and Urban Canine, alongside one-on-one sessions conducted either at your home or in alternate locations with a local K-9 trainer, board and train options, and private field sessions. The training regimen involves evaluations for credentials such as AKC Community Canine®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, and a Public Access Test.
While the training is demanding, not all dogs will pass, and some may not be good candidates, those who do pass the course will receive a Certification ID card upon successful completion. Your K-9 trainer in Monrovia will tell you that active parent participation and availability for instruction and lessons are key components of your dog’s comprehensive training, contingent upon your physical capabilities. Get in touch with us to learn more and to set up your consultation session.
Obedience Training
Participate in our Group Obedience courses for an enjoyable and rewarding training experience. Enjoy a personalized experience within a group of up to 12 owners and dogs, where you and your pup will learn from a dedicated local dog trainer over the course of 7 weeks. Weekly hour-long sessions are complemented by daily 45-minute practice sessions, covering essential commands like loose leash walking, heel, sit and down stays, recall, and addressing common behavioral issues. We also concentrate on teaching appropriate greetings, reinforcing obedience commands even in the presence of distractions that are up to 30 feet away, and advocating for proper nutrition and exercise. Progress your dog’s capabilities through our Intermediate Obedience Training classes, aimed at getting them ready for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine assessments, offering a well-mannered pet certification and legal benefits. Experience the transformation as your dog thrives in obedience and social interactions!
AKC® Trick Dog Classes
Sign up for our AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and enjoy a delightful bonding experience with your canine companion! Across 6 weeks, your dog will be trained in numerous entertaining tricks, including playing dead, barking on command, high-fiving, shaking paws, spinning in circles, jumping through a hoop, crawling, and additional tricks. For the Novice evaluation, your furry friend must perform 10 tricks (or 5 with a CGC title), and Intermediate includes an additional set of 10 tricks. Conducted by AKC®-endorsed CGC Evaluators, our session welcomes dogs aged 6 months and beyond, who have already passed Basic Obedience or a similar course.
