Dog Training in Rosemead
Since 2000, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of dogs and humans in the Rosemead community. Our President and Training Director, Karen Wildaman, discovered her love for training dogs at just 8 years old. Now an expert dog trainer with decades of professional experience, certifications from the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, and a variety of other impressive credentials, she has a deep understanding of canine behavior and psychology. Through her compassionate and successful approach, Karen has supported countless dogs and their companions in building strong bonds and achieving obedience and harmony.
Our core belief at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy is centered around the necessity of giving your dog an education, which is vital for their happiness, health, and harmonious coexistence with humans. Our aim is to deepen the connection between you and your furry family member by employing positive reinforcement techniques that are customized to your particular situation. We place emphasis on your dog’s progress, refraining from harsh force or abusive tactics. Drawing on over two decades of experience and a track record of success, we provide a wide-ranging selection of training services that address everything from basic obedience to challenging behavior concerns. Our skilled trainers are devoted to cultivating positive and fulfilling bonds between pets and their loving owners.
The Importance of Dog Training
For dogs of any age, dog training plays a vital role in encouraging appropriate behavior, strengthening family communication, and fostering deeper bonds between people and pets. The common idea that training only works when dogs are young is untrue, because canines remain capable of learning at all points in life. Because they’re so intelligent and adaptable, training continues to be effective throughout their lifetime. Choosing a professional dog training service provides not only a reliable structure, but also access to humane, proven strategies and professional expertise that provides every dog with valuable support and training.
Dogs at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy benefit from the dedication of certified trainers with extensive experience, individualized training tailored to each dog’s personality, and reinforcement techniques centered on compassion and trust. These resources promote cooperation and understanding, allowing you and your pet to strengthen your bond while building a harmonious relationship that results in improved health, lasting happiness, and a fulfilling life together.
What Sets Us Apart
Under Karen Wildaman’s leadership, our team emphasizes holistic practices and trust. Tailoring our methods to suit the individual needs of each dog is at the core of our belief system, whether that entails utilizing essential oils for relaxation and focus, offering personalized attention, or providing ongoing support. We strive to develop a harmonious and respectful relationship between you and your furry friend, emphasizing mutual understanding and admiration. We work hard every day to establish a nurturing learning environment that supports your dog’s learning journey. Through our innovative techniques, we guarantee continuous success and joy for both you and your cherished furry friend.
AKC® Trick Dog Classes
Participate in the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and take part in six weeks of laughter and learning with your canine friend! The training includes a range of fun skills, such as high-fiving, shaking paws, crawling, playing dead, spinning in circles, barking on cue, jumping through a hoop, and other fun activities. Upon completing a certain set of tricks, your dog can officially earn recognition through the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title certification.
For the Novice test, your dog needs to show off 10 tricks (or only 5 if they have also earned a CGC title), and Intermediate involves performing another 10 tricks. Our program is conducted under the guidance of AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators and welcomes dogs who are at least 6 months old and have finished Basic Obedience or comparable courses. This is a rewarding chance to strengthen your connection, refine abilities, and build unforgettable memories with your loyal canine pal!
AKC® Urban CGC
By joining our AKC® CGC dog training services, you’ll be introduced to a structured program that focuses on building reliable canine behavior in public places. The course prepares your dog to face challenges including exposure to traffic, interaction with crowds, visits to stores, and other common scenarios. Classes are held on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and conclude with a test. Participation requires your dog to have both an AKC® registration number and the Canine Good Citizen title. Aggressive dogs cannot be accepted, but adopted and service dogs receive a $10 discount. For dogs who have greater needs, extra guidance is available from a dog reactivity trainer or dog aggression trainer.
Service Dog Training
Our Rosemead service dog training program provides a complete and structured approach, guided by a certified service dog trainer with extensive experience. The K-9 trainer starts with a free consultation and assessment to evaluate the dog’s skills, temperament, and suitability for service work while also reviewing your assistance needs. The service dog trainer in Rosemead then implements a three-phase K-9 training plan, featuring group classes such as Basic, CGC Level I & II, and Urban Canine, as well as board and train options, private field instruction, and in-home or off-site private sessions with a local K-9 trainer. Certification opportunities include AKC Canine Good Citizen®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, and a Public Access Test.
The training is very demanding, not all dogs will succeed, and a few may not be appropriate for service roles, but those who excel and finish the full course will receive a Certification ID card. Your involvement and reliability in showing up for instruction and lessons are essential to the process, so your K-9 trainer in Rosemead will request your participation as long as you can physically participate. Contact us when you’re ready to learn more details and reserve a consultation appointment at a time that works for you.
Obedience Training
At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, our Group Obedience classes give you and your dog structured guidance with the help of a professional local dog trainer. Groups are limited to 12 participants, which provides plenty of personal attention during the seven-week program. Each week includes a one-hour lesson plus daily 45-minute practice. Throughout the program, your dog will learn recall, sit, loose leash walking, down stays, and heel, while also overcoming behavioral concerns. The curriculum also incorporates greetings, maintaining obedience around distractions up to 30 feet, nutrition, and daily exercise. Once basics are mastered, your dog can advance through two levels of Intermediate Obedience to further prepare them for the AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations. These certifications don’t just improve manners, but also bring legal advantages. Enroll today to give your companion greater confidence, improved skills, and enhanced social behavior!
