Obedience Training

Group Obedience training offers a lively, supportive environment to learn alongside other dog owners under the guidance of a trusted local dog trainer. Each class is limited to 12 pairs and runs for seven weeks, combining weekly hour-long sessions with 45-minute practice times each day. Skills covered include loose leash walking, down stays, sit, heel, and recall, while also managing common challenges. Lessons extend further to include greetings, exercise, nutrition, and obedience around distractions up to 30 feet. After completing the course, two additional levels of Intermediate Obedience provide opportunities to advance skills. These programs help prepare your dog for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine certifications, which provide recognition, legal advantages, and proof of good manners. Service Dog Training

Our Riverside service dog training program provides a complete and structured approach, guided by a certified service dog trainer with extensive experience. First, a K-9 trainer performs a complimentary consultation and assessment to determine your dog’s aptitude for service tasks and evaluate specific service requirements. After this, your service dog trainer in Riverside develops a tailored three-stage K-9 training plan that includes group classes such as CGC Level I & II, Basic, and Urban Canine, in addition to private field lessons, in-home or off-site private sessions, and board and train options with a local K-9 trainer. Available certifications include AKC Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, and a Public Access Test to confirm skills and readiness.

The training is challenging, not every dog will qualify, and a few may not be appropriate candidates, but those who excel and finish the course will earn a Certification ID card. AKC® Urban CGC

Our AKC® CGC dog training services provide a hands-on way to strengthen how your dog behaves in different public settings. The course readies your dog for environments that may involve busy traffic, lively crowds, trips into stores, and other challenges. Classes are held on Saturdays at 1:00 pm, with the program finishing in an evaluation test. Before enrolling, your dog must already have an AKC® registration number and a Canine Good Citizen title. Aggressive behavior is not allowed, but service dogs and adopted dogs are offered a $10 discount. If your dog doesn’t qualify for this course because of challenging behavior, we can connect you to a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer for added support.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Enroll in the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and share a rewarding experience with your beloved dog! Over a six-week schedule, your pet will be guided through charming tricks, including jumping through a hoop, barking on cue, shaking paws, spinning in circles, playing dead, crawling, high-fiving, and other fun skills. Upon demonstrating a required set of tricks, your dog has the opportunity to carry the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title with pride.

Dogs must perform 10 tricks for the Novice level (or 5 with a CGC title already achieved), while the Intermediate test requires another 10 new tricks. Overseen by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators, this program is available to dogs 6 months or older who have completed a Basic Obedience course or similar foundational training. This is the perfect chance to strengthen your relationship, sharpen skills, and share joyful experiences with your pet!
