The Importance of Dog Training
At every age, dog training supports a dog’s well-being by promoting desirable behavior, enhancing understanding with their families, and deepening trust. It is a misconception that older dogs are past the point of learning – in reality, they can adjust and pick up new behaviors at any stage. Professional involvement makes a significant difference because our dog training service provides structure, knowledgeable instruction, and humane approaches. This approach plays an essential role in making sure each dog receives helpful guidance and appropriate training.
When you choose It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, your dog benefits from customized training plans tailored to individual needs, a compassionate positive reinforcement style, and the guidance of highly experienced, certified trainers. This carefully structured approach allows you and your canine to develop a deeper, more rewarding connection, create a harmonious partnership, enjoy a healthier lifestyle, and build a much happier shared experience that benefits you both every day.

AKC® Urban CGC
Our AKC® CGC dog training services are designed to provide a professional approach to improving your dog’s conduct in public settings. The course prepares your dog to face challenges including exposure to traffic, interaction with crowds, visits to stores, and other common scenarios. Sessions take place weekly on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and end with a test. Dogs are required to have an AKC® registration number and the Canine Good Citizen title prior to enrolling. Aggressive dogs are not permitted, and service dogs or adopted dogs are given a $10 discount. If your dog has greater training needs and doesn’t qualify for this course, we can put you in touch with a dog reactivity trainer or dog aggression trainer.
Service Dog Training
Our Pomona service dog training program is a carefully structured curriculum led by a certified service dog trainer to provide comprehensive support for both dogs and handlers. First, a K-9 trainer performs a complimentary consultation and assessment to determine your dog’s aptitude for service tasks and evaluate specific service requirements. Afterward, the service dog trainer in Pomona designs a personalized K-9 training plan spanning three stages, which may include group classes such as Urban Canine, Basic, and CGC Level I & II, plus board and train options, private field lessons, and in-home or off-site private sessions with a local K-9 trainer. Testing for certifications such as AKC Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, and a Public Access Test is included for full credentialing.
The training is intensive, not every dog will pass, and some may not be appropriate candidates, but those who excel and complete the program will earn a Certification ID card as proof of their accomplishment. Active participation in lessons and instruction is crucial for your dog’s growth, so your K-9 trainer in Pomona highlights the importance of your involvement if you are physically capable. AKC® Trick Dog Classes
Take part in the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and discover six weeks of lively bonding with your cherished pet! Dogs in the program learn endearing tricks such as high-fiving, playing dead, spinning in circles, crawling, barking on cue, jumping through a hoop, shaking paws, and other impressive stunts. By performing the designated number of tricks, your pet will qualify for the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title and gain well-earned recognition.
During the Novice evaluation, dogs are expected to perform 10 tricks (or 5 if they also have a CGC title), while the Intermediate evaluation requires another 10 tricks beyond that. Evaluators oversee the course, which is open to all dogs at least 6 months of age who have previously completed Basic Obedience or a similar program. This is an enjoyable way to improve skills, build strong bonds, and make lasting memories with your dog!
Obedience Training
At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, our Group Obedience courses offer structure and fun, all guided by a trusted local dog trainer. Designed for up to 12 owners and dogs, this seven-week program features hour-long weekly classes and daily 45-minute practices at home. You’ll work on important commands including down stays, loose leash walking, heel, recall, and sit, while also addressing common behavior problems. Beyond commands, lessons highlight exercise, proper greetings, nutrition, and distraction training extending to 30 feet. Once your dog completes the program, two levels of Intermediate Obedience help polish skills further. These courses prepare dogs for the AKC® Community Canine and Canine Good Citizen certifications, which provide recognition and potential legal benefits. Our mission is to strengthen your dog’s obedience while promoting positive social interactions. Discover how much your dog can achieve with expert training and encouragement!
