AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Join the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and enjoy an engaging six-week adventure with your canine partner! Over a six-week schedule, your pet will be guided through charming tricks, including jumping through a hoop, barking on cue, shaking paws, spinning in circles, playing dead, crawling, high-fiving, and other fun skills. When your dog successfully demonstrates the required number of tricks, they can be proudly awarded the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title.

At the Novice stage, dogs must perform 10 tricks (or 5 if they have earned a CGC title), and the Intermediate level requires another 10 tricks. The class is carefully supervised by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators and welcomes dogs who are at least 6 months of age with prior Basic Obedience or similar training. This is an enjoyable way to improve skills, build strong bonds, and make lasting memories with your dog!

AKC® Urban CGC

Our AKC® CGC dog training services are designed to provide a professional approach to improving your dog’s conduct in public settings. This class is designed to prepare for situations like dealing with traffic, entering stores, encountering crowds, and more. Classes are held on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and conclude with a test. Dogs must already possess an AKC® registration number and the Canine Good Citizen title before participating. Dogs that show aggression cannot join, but adopted pets and service animals qualify for a $10 discount. If your dog needs more targeted correction, we can pair you with a dog reactivity trainer or dog aggression trainer.

Obedience Training

Our Group Obedience classes create the perfect environment to strengthen the bond between you and your dog, all under the guidance of a caring local dog trainer. Sessions are capped at 12 participants to ensure small group attention throughout the seven-week course. Each week, you’ll attend a one-hour session, supported by 45 minutes of at-home practice daily. You’ll work on important commands including down stays, loose leash walking, heel, recall, and sit, while also addressing common behavior problems. Lessons extend further to include greetings, exercise, nutrition, and obedience around distractions up to 30 feet. To build on these foundations, two Intermediate Obedience levels prepare dogs for the AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations.
