Dog Training in Irvine

With a history dating back to 2000, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy has been serving dogs and humans in an effort to be an invaluable asset to the Irvine community. Karen Wildaman, our President and Training Director, discovered her passion for training dogs at the age of 8. Now an expert dog trainer with decades of professional experience, certifications from the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, and a variety of other impressive credentials, she has a deep understanding of canine behavior and psychology. Karen’s empathetic and efficient strategies have guided numerous dogs and their guardians in establishing solid relationships and attaining obedience and balance.

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, we stress the significance of providing your dog with an education that fosters their overall well-being and to their successful adaptation to our human world. We aim to fortify the relationship between you and your cherished canine companion by utilizing positive reinforcement strategies that are tailored to your distinct circumstances. Our priority lies in your dog’s accomplishments, avoiding harsh force or abusive tactics. Drawing on over two decades of experience and a track record of success, we provide a wide-ranging selection of training services that address everything from basic obedience to challenging behavior concerns. Dedicated to promoting thriving and joyous relationships between pets and their loving caregivers, our team of expert trainers is passionate about their important work.

The Importance of Dog Training

Deciding on It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy for your dog’s training brings forth a multitude of benefits, including tailored training regimens that address your dog’s specific needs, an emphasis on positive reinforcement techniques that promote obedience and trust, and the guidance of certified trainers boasting years of expertise. This approach helps you and your furry friend develop a harmonious and gratifying relationship that leads to a healthy and joyful life together.

Dog training plays a vital role because it improves communication within the family, fortifies the bond between humans and dogs, and encourages desirable behavior. The concept that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is fundamentally flawed. The intelligence of dogs allows them to learn and adjust at any point in their lives. Through structured learning, the use of humane, effective training methods, and expert guidance, professional dog training services play a critical role in ensuring that dogs receive well-deserved, much-needed support and training.

What Sets Us Apart

Our objective is to establish a peaceful and happy connection between you and your four-legged companion, founded on mutual understanding and respect. We provide a supportive learning environment that facilitates your dog’s development. Our exceptional approach ensures sustained success and fulfillment for both you and your beloved pet.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Join the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and enjoy a fantastic journey with your beloved pet! In a 6-week span, your dog will pick up numerous enjoyable tricks, such as barking on command, jumping through a hoop, high-fiving, crawling, spinning in circles, shaking paws, playing dead, and other tricks. Your dog has the opportunity to achieve an AKC® “Intermediate” or “Novice” Trick Dog Title by executing a certain set of tricks.

The Novice assessment entails presenting 10 tricks (or 5 with a CGC title), while Intermediate adds another 10 tricks. Led by AKC®-authorized CGC Evaluators, our course is accessible to canines aged 6 months and older who have met the prerequisite of Basic Obedience or an equivalent training regimen. Embrace this moment to foster a stronger bond, enhance skills, and cherish joyful moments with your furry friend!

Obedience Training

Take part in our Group Obedience courses for an enjoyable and efficient way to train your dog. Join a tightly knit group of up to 12 owners and their dogs, where you’ll work alongside a dedicated local dog trainer through a comprehensive, 7-week program. Daily 45-minute practice sessions are complemented by weekly hour-long sessions, addressing prevalent behavioral concerns and covering essential commands like recall, down and sit stays, heel, and loose leash walking. Moreover, we emphasize the importance of nutrition and exercise, reinforcing obedience commands with distractions up to 30 feet away, and teaching appropriate greetings. Further develop your dog’s abilities through our Intermediate Obedience Training levels, structured to prepare them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine assessments, providing a well-mannered pet certification and legal advantages. Come watch your dog excel in obedience and social graces with our help!

Service Dog Training

Immerse yourself in our Irvine service dog training journey, under the guidance of a certified service dog trainer. Our K-9 trainer begins with a free consultation and assessment to ascertain your dog’s suitability and assistance requirements. After the initial evaluation, your service dog trainer in Irvine will create a bespoke K-9 training strategy across three phases. These phases include group workshops such as Urban Canine, Basic, and CGC Level I & II, along with board and train options, private field sessions, and individual lessons held either at your residence or elsewhere with a local K-9 trainer. Certifications including a Public Access Test, AKC Community Canine®, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, and Urban Canine Good Citizen® will be part of the training process.

The training is rigorous, some dogs won’t meet the standards for training, and some may simply be unsuitable for the course, but successful completion earns a Certification ID card. Your participation and availability for instruction and lessons are crucial for your dog’s comprehensive training, as requested by your K-9 trainer in Irvine – provided that you are physically capable of playing an active role. Contact us to gather more information and to book your consultation at your convenience.

AKC® Urban CGC

Take advantage of our AKC® CGC dog training services for a systematic and practical approach to refining canine behavior in public environments. Ready your dog for outdoor encounters like crowds, traffic, and shopping trips through this class. Sessions are scheduled for Saturdays at 1:00 pm and include a test at the end. Requirements involve having achieved the Canine Good Citizen title and being registered with an AKC® number. It should be noted that aggressive behavior is not allowed, and service or adopted dogs qualify for a $10 discount.
