Designed for up to 12 owners and dogs, this seven-week program features hour-long weekly classes and daily 45-minute practices at home. Dogs learn key commands like recall, heel, sit, loose leash walking, and down stays, while also addressing everyday problem behaviors. Sessions also cover broader needs such as greetings, nutrition, obedience with distractions up to 30 feet, and regular exercise. Once your dog has completed the course, they can advance into two levels of Intermediate Obedience, which prepare them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations. Service Dog Training

Our Santa Fe Springs service dog training program is a carefully structured curriculum led by a certified service dog trainer to provide comprehensive support for both dogs and handlers. The K-9 trainer first conducts a free consultation and assessment to determine the dog’s aptitude and evaluate specific service requirements. From there, your service dog trainer in Santa Fe Springs designs a three-stage K-9 training program that can incorporate group classes such as Urban Canine, Basic, and CGC Level I & II, alongside board and train options, private field lessons, and in-home or off-site sessions with a local K-9 trainer. Certification testing includes AKC Canine Good Citizen®, Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, and a Public Access Test to help your dog achieve recognized credentials for public access and service work.

The training is challenging, not every dog will qualify, and a few may not be appropriate candidates, but those who excel and finish the course will earn a Certification ID card. This course specifically prepares dogs for obstacles such as managing crowds, traveling near traffic, visiting stores, and other similar challenges. Sessions run every Saturday at 1:00 pm and finish with an evaluation test. To join, dogs must have an AKC® registration number and the Canine Good Citizen title. Aggressive dogs cannot be admitted, but service animals and adopted pets benefit from a $10 discount. If your dog doesn’t qualify for this course because of challenging behavior, we can connect you to a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer for added support.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Sign up for the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and begin an entertaining six-week journey with your furry best friend! Over a six-week schedule, your pet will be guided through charming tricks, including jumping through a hoop, barking on cue, shaking paws, spinning in circles, playing dead, crawling, high-fiving, and other fun skills. After performing a specific number of learned tricks, your pet becomes eligible to proudly hold the AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title.

Dogs must perform 10 tricks for the Novice level (or 5 with a CGC title already achieved), while the Intermediate test requires another 10 new tricks. Conducted by AKC®-certified CGC Evaluators, the program is open to dogs 6 months and older who have successfully completed Basic Obedience or comparable courses.
