Baldwin Park Dog Trainer

Dog Training in Baldwin Park

Two decades strong, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy has been dedicated to bettering the Baldwin Park community with a steadfast commitment to dogs and their humans. Karen Wildaman, now our President and Training Director, started her dog training journey at the age of 8. Having honed her skills over decades and becoming certified by esteemed institutions like the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she is recognized as an expert dog trainer with a deep understanding of canine behavior and psychology. Karen’s empathetic and efficient strategies have guided numerous dogs and their guardians in establishing solid relationships and attaining obedience and balance.

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, we stress the significance of providing your dog with an education, as it greatly contributes to their overall well-being and their successful interaction with every human they meet. Our aim is to deepen the connection between you and your furry family member by employing positive reinforcement techniques that are customized to your particular situation. Our main goal is your dog’s success, which is why we steer clear of harsh force or abusive techniques. Armed with over twenty years of experience and a proven track record of success, our training programs encompass a diverse range, addressing basic obedience, complex behavior challenges, and everything in between. Dedicated to promoting positive and fulfilling relationships between pets and their loving caregivers, our trainers bring expertise and dedication to every session.

The Importance of Dog Training

Enrolling your dog in It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy provides numerous benefits, including an emphasis on positive reinforcement techniques that build trust and obedience, the expertise of highly experienced and certified trainers, and personalized training plans tailored to your dog’s unique needs. These practices foster a balanced and rewarding partnership between you and your loyal companion, resulting in a healthier and more joyful life together.

Dog training plays a vital role because it improves communication within the family, fortifies the bond between humans and dogs, and encourages desirable behavior. The saying, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is entirely inaccurate. Because of their exceptional intelligence, dogs can learn and acclimate at any age. Given their use of humane, effective training methods, expert guidance, and structured learning, professional dog training services are instrumental when you want to help your dog meet their full potential with proper support and training.

AKC® Urban CGC

Join our AKC® CGC dog training sessions for a targeted and results-oriented strategy toward enhancing canine behavior in public spaces. Equip your dog for outdoor challenges like crowds, traffic, and store visits through this class. Join us on Saturdays at 1:00 pm for sessions followed by a test. Necessary conditions include earning the Canine Good Citizen title and having an AKC® registration code. Keep in mind that aggressive behavior is prohibited, and adopted or service dogs are entitled to a $10 discount. For dogs who have greater needs, extra guidance is available from a dog reactivity trainer or dog aggression trainer.

Service Dog Training

Participate in our Baldwin Park service dog training – a complete program managed by a certified service dog trainer. Our K-9 trainer kicks off the process with a complimentary consultation and assessment, evaluating your dog’s compatibility and support requirements. After the initial assessment, your service dog trainer in Baldwin Park will develop a customized K-9 training protocol spanning three stages. These stages include group sessions like Urban Canine, CGC Level I & II, and Basic, in addition to one-on-one sessions conducted either at your home or in alternate locations with a local K-9 trainer, board and train options, and private field sessions. Your dog’s training regimen includes assessments for credentials like AKC Community Canine®, a Public Access Test, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, and Urban Canine Good Citizen®.

While the training is demanding, not all dogs will pass, and some may not be good candidates, those who succeed will receive a Certification ID card upon completion. Your K-9 trainer in Baldwin Park will tell you that active parent participation and availability for instruction and lessons are key components of your dog’s comprehensive training, contingent upon your physical capabilities. Contact us for more information and to schedule your consultation.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Sign up for our AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and enjoy a delightful experience with your canine buddy! In a 6-week span, your dog will acquire a variety of exciting tricks, such as shaking paws, crawling, barking on command, jumping through a hoop, spinning in circles, high-fiving, playing dead, and other tricks. Earning an AKC® “Intermediate” or “Novice” Trick Dog Title is possible when a dog learns and performs a set number of tricks.

In the Novice test, your dog needs to show 10 tricks (or 5 with a CGC title), and Intermediate introduces an extra set of 10 tricks. Directed by AKC®-accredited CGC Evaluators, our session is open to dogs aged 6 months and up who have met the requirements of Basic Obedience training or an equivalent program. Take this opportunity to build a stronger bond, enhance abilities, and relish playful moments with your furry companion!

Obedience Training

Opt for our Group Obedience courses for an engaging and impactful dog training solution. Engage in a small group of no more than 12 owners and their dogs, guided by a dedicated local dog trainer for a 7-week program. Delve into daily 45-minute practice sessions combined with weekly hour-long sessions, mastering essential commands like loose leash walking, recall, heel, and down and sit stays. In addition, we prioritize reinforcing obedience commands amidst distractions that can be as far as 30 feet away, underlining the significance of nutrition and exercise, and teaching appropriate greetings. Elevate your dog’s skills through our Intermediate Obedience Training tiers, crafted to ready them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine assessments, granting legal benefits and a well-mannered pet certification. See your dog thrive in obedience and social interactions with our expert guidance!
