Dog Training in Azusa
Catering to Azusa’s canine and human population since 2000, It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy is a proud member of this one-of-a-kind community. At 8 years old, Karen Wildaman, now our President and Training Director, took her first steps into the world of dog training. With years of professional expertise and certifications from leading institutions such as the American Pro Dog Training Association and Animal Behavior College, she is now a respected dog trainer with a deep understanding of canine psychology and behavior. Karen’s caring and impactful strategies have supported numerous dogs and their companions through the process of fostering strong connections and reaching obedience and serenity.
At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, we strongly believe that educating your dog is essential for their happiness and for their seamless adaptation to our human society. Our mission is to enhance the relationship between you and your cherished pet by utilizing positive reinforcement strategies that are tailored to your individual circumstances. Our main concern is your dog’s well-being and success, so we never employ abusive techniques or harsh force. Backed by two decades of expertise and a proven history of achievement, we provide an extensive array of training solutions covering everything from fundamental obedience to tackling complex behaviors. Dedicated to promoting thriving and joyous relationships between pets and their loving caregivers, our team of expert trainers is passionate about their important work.
The Importance of Dog Training
Enrolling your dog at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy provides several advantages, such as customized training plans that cater to your dog’s individual needs, a focus on positive reinforcement methods that promote obedience and trust, and the assistance of certified trainers with extensive experience. These efforts nurture a harmonious and gratifying relationship between you and your canine buddy, leading to a life filled with greater joy and fulfillment alongside one another.
The importance of dog training lies in its ability to strengthen the bond between humans and their dogs, enhance communication with families, and cultivate good behavior. Many pet parents are surprised to learn that the effectiveness of training is completely unrelated to the age of the dog. Dogs’ intelligence allows for continuous learning and adaptation at any life stage. Professional dog training services are indispensable as they offer structured learning, employ effective, humane training methods, and deliver expert guidance, all of which are essential in ensuring that dogs receive the training and support they so richly deserve.
Service Dog Training
Immerse yourself in our Azusa service dog training journey, under the guidance of a certified service dog trainer. Our K-9 trainer kicks off the process with a complimentary consultation and assessment, evaluating your dog’s compatibility and support requirements. Your service dog trainer in Azusa will then tailor a K-9 training protocol across three stages, including group classes like Basic, CGC Level I & II, and Urban Canine, as well as board and train options, private field lessons, and in-home or off-site private lessons with a local K-9 trainer. Your dog’s training will incorporate assessments for credentials like Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, a Public Access Test, and AKC Community Canine®..
Even though the training is intensive, not every dog will succeed, and some may not be suitable, those that do successfully complete the program receive a Certification ID card. Your participation and availability for instruction and lessons are crucial for your dog’s comprehensive training, as requested by your K-9 trainer in Azusa – provided that you are physically capable of playing an active role. Reach us for further details and to schedule your consultation according to your availability.
Obedience Training
Take part in our Group Obedience courses for an enjoyable and efficient way to train your dog. Participate in a close-knit group of no more than 12 owners and dogs, where you can benefit from the expertise of a local dog trainer in a 7-week course. Your dog can sharpen skills with weekly hour-long sessions and daily 45-minute practice sessions, covering vital commands like sit and down stays, recall, loose leash walking, and heel and tackling typical behavior problems. We also place special emphasis on reinforcing obedience commands even with distractions spanning up to 30 feet, teaching proper greetings, and promoting healthy nutrition and exercise. Advance your dog’s skills with our Intermediate Obedience Training levels, tailored to prepare them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations, offering legal advantages and a well-mannered pet certification. Join us and witness the impressive progress of your dog in obedience and social skills!

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Your pup can receive an AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title by performing a required set of tricks.
In the Novice test, your dog needs to show 10 tricks (or 5 with a CGC title), and Intermediate introduces an extra set of 10 tricks. Managed by AKC®-approved CGC Evaluators, our session caters to dogs aged 6 months and above who have already fulfilled the prerequisites of Basic Obedience or an equivalent course.
