The Importance of Dog Training

When you choose It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy for your dog, you’ll receive benefits like a focus on positive reinforcement methods that build trust and encourage obedience, personalized training programs designed to suit your dog’s individual needs, and the expertise of certified trainers with extensive experience. By practicing these techniques, you can form a harmonious and fulfilling alliance with your furry friend for a long, happy, and healthy life together.

Dog training is vital for nurturing a strong human-canine relationship, encouraging positive behavior, and fostering effective communication. The phrase, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is a common misconception. Dogs never lose their adaptability and intelligence, so they can adapt and learn at any life stage. Professional dog training services are essential because they deliver expert guidance, structured learning, and knowledge of humane, effective training methods, which are instrumental in ensuring that dogs receive the training and support they deserve.

What Sets Us Apart

Karen Wildaman and our team highlight holistic strategies and trust in their work. Tailoring our methods to suit each dog’s unique needs is integral to our philosophy, whether that means incorporating essential oils for relaxation and focus, providing personalized attention, or offering ongoing support. We work towards establishing a peaceful and respectful alliance between you and your furry friend, grounded in mutual understanding and appreciation. We work hard to foster an encouraging learning environment that optimizes your dog’s learning potential. Through our distinctive techniques, we ensure sustained fulfillment and contentment for both you and your beloved furry friend.

AKC® Urban CGC

Join our AKC® CGC dog training services for a focused and practical approach to canine behavior in public spaces. Prepare your dog to navigate outdoor situations like crowds, traffic, and store visits with this class. Sessions take place on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and end with a test. Prerequisites include acquiring the Canine Good Citizen certification and holding an AKC® registration identification. Keep in mind that aggressive behavior is prohibited, and adopted or service dogs qualify for a $10 discount. If your dog has greater training needs and doesn’t qualify for this course, we can put you in touch with a dog reactivity trainer or dog aggression trainer.

Service Dog Training

Participate in our La Mirada service dog training – a complete program managed by a certified service dog trainer. Our K-9 trainer starts the process with a no-cost consultation and assessment, gauging your dog’s assistance requirements and appropriateness for the program. Following the introductory session, your service dog trainer in La Mirada will tailor a K-9 training plan divided into three stages. These phases incorporate group workshops such as Basic, CGC Level I & II, and Urban Canine, along with board and train options, individual lessons held either at your home or at another location with a local K-9 trainer, and private field sessions. The training course includes evaluations for credentials such as Urban Canine Good Citizen®, AKC Community Canine®, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, and a Public Access Test.

Although the training is demanding, not every dog will succeed, and some may not meet the criteria, those who do successfully complete training will receive a Certification ID card. Your K-9 trainer in La Mirada will tell you that active parent participation and availability for instruction and lessons are key components of your dog’s comprehensive training, contingent upon your physical capabilities. Feel free to contact us for more information and to schedule your consultation session.

AKC® Trick Dog Classes

Take part in the AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and enjoy a fantastic time with your loyal companion! Over the course of 6 weeks, your furry friend will master a variety of exciting tricks, like high-fiving, shaking paws, playing dead, jumping through a hoop, spinning in circles, barking on cue, crawling, and more. Earning an AKC® “Intermediate” or “Novice” Trick Dog Title is possible when a dog learns and performs a set number of tricks.

The Novice assessment requires dogs to show off 10 tricks (or 5 if they hold a CGC title), while Intermediate includes an additional 10 tricks. Administered by AKC®-licensed CGC Evaluators, our program invites dogs aged 6 months and older who have met the requirements of Basic Obedience or an equivalent course. Seize this chance to strengthen your bond, enhance skills, and enjoy quality time with your furry friend!

Obedience Training

Enroll your dog in our Group Obedience courses for an engaging and effective training solution. Collaborate closely with a group limited to 12 owners and their dogs, where you can benefit from the expertise of a local dog trainer over a 7-week course. Your dog can sharpen skills with daily 45-minute practice sessions and weekly hour-long sessions, tackling typical behavior problems and covering vital commands like recall, down and sit stays, heel, and loose leash walking. We also concentrate on teaching appropriate greetings, reinforcing obedience commands even in the presence of distractions that are up to 30 feet away, and advocating for proper nutrition and exercise. Improve your dog’s capabilities with our Intermediate Obedience Training classes, geared towards equipping them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine evaluations, offering legal advantages and a well-mannered pet certification. Come to us and see your dog’s obedience and social interaction potential unleashed!
