AKC® Urban CGC
Enroll in our AKC® CGC dog training program to benefit from a targeted and results-oriented approach to improving canine behavior in public spaces. Equip your dog to handle outdoor situations like crowds, traffic, and store visits with this class. Sessions run on Saturdays at 1:00 pm and conclude with a test. Key requirements involve acquiring the Canine Good Citizen title and being AKC® registered. It’s important to note that aggressive behavior will not be tolerated, and service or adopted dogs qualify for a $10 discount. If you think your dog might need a higher level of support, we’re happy to connect you with a dog aggression trainer or dog reactivity trainer.
Obedience Training
Participate in our Group Obedience courses for an enjoyable and rewarding training experience. Our 7-week program allows you to share insights and experiences in a group of up to 12 owners and their dogs, under the guidance of a committed local dog trainer. Each week, you’ll enjoy hour-long sessions alongside daily 45-minute practice sessions, focusing on handling common behavioral challenges and fundamental commands such as loose leash walking, sit and down stays, recall, and heel. Furthermore, we advocate for proper nutrition and exercise, reinforcing obedience commands even in the presence of distractions that are up to 30 feet away, and concentrate on teaching appropriate greetings. Elevate your dog’s skills through our Intermediate Obedience Training tiers, crafted to ready them for AKC® Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine assessments, granting legal benefits and a well-mannered pet certification. Service Dog Training
Immerse your dog in our Cerritos service dog training – a thorough program overseen by a certified service dog trainer. A K-9 trainer will begin with a free consultation and assessment to determine your dog’s suitability and assistance needs. After the initial assessment, your service dog trainer in Cerritos will create a bespoke K-9 training strategy across three phases. These phases include group workshops such as CGC Level I & II, Urban Canine, and Basic, alongside train and board options, one-on-one sessions conducted either at your home or in alternate locations with a local K-9 trainer, and private field sessions. Certifications including a Public Access Test, AKC Community Canine®, AKC Canine Good Citizen®, and Urban Canine Good Citizen® are integrated into the training process.
While the training is thorough and demanding, not all dogs will be able to complete the course, and some may not be the right fit, those that do will receive a Certification ID card. AKC® Trick Dog Classes
Participate in our AKC® Trick Dog Class at It’s A Dog’s World K9 Academy and have a wonderful time with your furry buddy! Throughout a 6-week timeframe, your dog will be trained in an assortment of entertaining tricks, including barking on cue, spinning in circles, shaking paws, crawling, jumping through a hoop, high-fiving, playing dead, and more. Your dog can earn an AKC® “Novice” or “Intermediate” Trick Dog Title by demonstrating a set number of tricks.
In the Novice evaluation, your dog will display 10 tricks (or 5 with a CGC title), and Intermediate requires mastering an additional 10 tricks. Conducted by AKC®-endorsed CGC Evaluators, our course welcomes dogs aged 6 months and above who have met the requirements of Basic Obedience or a similar training program.
