Many pet owners love including their pooches in various traditions, whether it be gift giving or partaking in annual feasts. With all of the hustle and bustle taking place during this time of year, it’s easy to start trimming back the budget to make room for added expenses. One way to include your pup without adding cost is to make homemade dog treats with ingredients found right in your own kitchen. Check out these recipes and enjoy!
We reached out to our friends at Homemade Doggy Dinners to see if they had any recommendations for recipes. The twin sisters have an all-natural dog food company based in Southern California, focused on giving pets quality food that benefits their health and extends their lifespan. Pumpkin Pie Doggy Cookies
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup canned pumpkin purée
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350
- In a large bowls beat eggs, add milk, cinnamon and pumpkin purée. Mix until smooth
- Slowly add flour until dough is formed.
- You can roll the dough out and make fun holiday shape cookies or drop dough in balls on cookie sheet and flatten then out.
- Bake for 25 minutes flip and bake for another 25 minutes. Let cool before serving to your dog!

Peanut Butter Barkers
What you’ll need:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour – a tad more if mixture is too sticky
- 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1/3 cup chunky peanut butter
- 1 – 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 1 egg
- Preheat oven to 375
- Combine dry ingredients in medium bowl.
- Combine wet ingredients in large bowl.
- Slowly add dry ingredients to wet bowl, after all combined add small amounts of extra water or flour as needed. Mixture should be sticky but not dry, wet but not loose.
- Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.
- Spoon mixture onto cookie sheet, then take a fork and press lightly into dough, in a # pattern.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until lightly brown. Cookies should be crunchy.
