Karen Widaman, CPDT-KA, ABCDT
President, Director of Training

Karen’s dream to become a dog trainer began at 8 years of age when she be-friended a trained German Shepherd guard dog. After that, her journey of owning her own dog training business began.

Karen has obtained her certification as a Certified Dog Trainer from Animal Behavior College. There she was taught learning theory, behavior problem solving, aggression, ethology, puppy development, how to conduct and teach group classes, and how to safely handle and train dogs.

Karen is approved by the Certified Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT). She is also a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), and the Animal Behavior Management Alliance (ABMA).

Karen has spent many hours attending various seminars by renowned dog trainers and behaviorists such as Nicholas Dodman, Ian Dunbar, John Rogerson, Pia Silvani and more.

Her training has helped owners develop a better relationship with their pet. She believes in focusing on the reasons behind animal behavior, in order to improve communication between owner and animal.

In her spare time, Karen enjoys working with Southland Collie Rescue.


Glenda Welch Pate, CPDT-KA, ABCDT

glendaGlenda has owned and enjoyed aimals her entire life. Her interest in training was sparked over twenty three years ago when she trained her Golden Retriever for field trials. She continued to train dogs for friends and neighbors on a part time basis throughout the years.

She is a Certified Dog Trainer from Animal Behavior College. There she was taught learning theory, behavior problem solving, aggression, ethology, puppy development, how to conduct and teach group classes, and how to safely handle and train dogs.

Glenda is approved by the Certified Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT).

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy Inc.™, she specializes in teaching the group classes for basic, intermediate and advanced obedience, as well as teaching pet owners on a one-to-one basis with their dogs. She has been training dogs with It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy Inc.™ since 2004.

Glenda likes to modify her training methods based on the personalities of the dog and the pet owner to help build a better bond between the two!


Chris Mangrich, ABCDT

christineAfter 17 years in the corporate world, Chris left the rat race to stay home and raise her son. After 7 years at home with him, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a dog trainer.

Since then, she has gone on to become a Certified Dog Trainer from Animal Behavior College. There she was taught learning theory, behavior problem solving, aggression, ethology, puppy development, how to conduct and teach group classes, and how to safely handle and train dogs.

When working with pet owners, she is able to apply what she learned from her degree in Psychology, to enhance the relationship between dog and owner. She has a special ability to understand what the clients needs are and how to obtain those goals.

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy Inc., she conducts basic obedience group classes, and instructs clients on the proper techniques in training their dogs through private and in home instruction. She has been working with It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy Inc. since March of 2005.


Russell McClain, ABCDT

3P6O7138A self-proclaimed “dog person,” Russell decided to do something productive with his love of animals by taking a big step of getting certified in the arena of dog training.

From there, Russell earned his certification as a Dog Trainer from Animal Behavior College, where he was educated in learning theory, behavior problem solving, aggression, ethology, puppy development, how to conduct and teach group classes, and how to safely handle and train dogs.

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy Inc., he trains dogs one on one with our board and train program. He also conducts private lessons at our training facility and in the home.

In his spare time, Russell volunteers at Border Collie Rescue.


Kerianne Benkosky, ABCDT

KerianneMillsKerianne has loved animals all her life. In 2005, she had the great opportunity of woking at a zoo in Palm Desert. There she worked with and trained a variety of animals including cougars, leopards, foxes, camels, golden eagles, and badgers. In 2008, she attended Animal Behavior College to begin a new career in training dogs.

In 2009, she graduated Animal Behavior College and became a Certified Dog Trainer. There she was taught learning theory, behavior problem solving, aggression, ethology, puppy development, how to conduct and teach group classes, and how to safely handle and train dogs.

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, Inc.™, she trains dogs one on one with our Board & Train program. She also conducts Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, and private lessons. With these classes she is able to apply what she has learned with the Animal Behavior College and help dog owners successfully train their dogs.


Brad Whitmer, ABCDT

Brad---website-bio-pictureIt is only natural that Brad became a certified dog trainer. He has a special knack with the furry friends of all sizes that come in for training. Brad brings his side-kick, Radar, a German Shepherd Dog with him whenever he is training the dogs at It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy.

Brad earned his certification as a Dog Trainer from Animal Behavior College, where he was educated in learning theory, behavior problem solving, aggression, ethology, puppy development, how to conduct and teach group classes, and how to safely handle and train dogs.

At It’s A Dog’s World K-9 Academy, Inc.™, Brad trains the dogs one on one in our Board & Train program. He also conducts group classes and gives private lessons in basic obedience at our Chino location or in the home and is one of our pack leaders in our Yappy Hour.


Jackie Schart, CPDT-KA

Jackie-and-pupGrowing up in a house that served as a safe haven for animals of all types, it’s no surprise that Jackie, a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and so much more, chose an animal hospital for her first place of employment. After her first job with animals, she knew her calling involved furry friends.

She currently works at a local animal shelter where she moved up the ranks, beginning as an animal adoption counselor, then animal behaviorist, and finally kennel supervisor. Her love for animals carries over into her free time, where she competes with her Saint Bernards at AKC conformation events. She has been breeding and showing her champion St. Bernards for over a decade, and helps with her favorite breeds rescue foundation called ADOPT A SAINT. In addition to showing the large breed, she enjoys traveling the country to exhibit dogs and has recently been invited to sit on the panel of judges for The Tournament of Champions in Mexico City.

Jackie and her Saints have worked with many Hollywood studio animal trainers and her Saints have been featured in many print campaigns, music videos, and TV work. Jackie has dedicated her life to helping educate the public on dogs, safe dog handling, husbandry, and leading people to have happy lifelong relationships with their dogs
