Behavior Modification

If your dog is exhibiting behavioral problems such as aggression, anxiety, or reactivity, we offer specialized programs specifically tailored to get you and your dog on your way to a less stressful and better quality of life. We offer our Behavior Modification training in both our board and train or day training as well as private lessons.  We will work on issues such as: reactivity, aggression, fear, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive behaviors.

What does Behavior Modification mean?

The term behavior modification refers to the process of modifying or changing an existing behavior your dog may have or exhibit. While obedience is an important factor, we focus heavily on the behavioral issue itself by utilizing counter-conditioning techniques, engagement exercises, and impulse control work. The reason we have a different classification is that training a dog who is struggling with behavior, is a much different and sometimes longer process than working with atypical “happy-go-lucky” dog.

Will my dog socialize with dogs and people?

Yes! Socialization is a vital part of any training. Contrary to
popular belief, the true meaning of socialization is to be "neutral"
around dogs, people, and/or any other distraction. Working on
neutrality will give anxious, nervous, reactive, and aggressive
dogs a chance to realize their triggers aren't a big deal after all.

What is your success rate?

Behavior is not static. It needs consistent upkeep and practice. We
have helped countless dogs and their owners overcome obstacles
and given them the necessary tools and education to continue to
ensure their success. After any program with us, it is up to you to
continue working with your dog.

Do you use "shock" collars?

The short answer is no, we do not use "shock" collars. We do use e-collars (remote collars)
either by Dogtra or Mini-Educator for clear communication for off-leash behaviors and some nuisance behaviors.
